We’re crossing into Central Time Zone and into the next province. It only took 3 days!
Heading west from Thunder Bay the landscape certainly starts to level out a lot more. At times it started to feel a lot like southern Ontario with the farm lands and less winding roads.
We generally try to swap drivers every 2 hours to make sure everyone is fresh and awake. Leaving our hotel in downtown Thunder Bay Tim and Jeff were in the driver’s seats on the first leg of the day, with the first swap point at Ignace, Ontario.
Today was a pretty uneventful day, mostly full of driving and witnessing the change in landscape as we move from the Canadian Shield out to the Prairies.

What was most striking was the lack of greeting to Manitoba when crossing in from Ontario. We looked for the sign to no avail. Nevertheless we moved on and kept a keen out for RCMP officers who had previously pulled Phil over for speeding the last time he crossed the boarder into Manitoba.
Pushing on through Manitoba for another hour we hit Winnipeg city limits.

Our final destination was the Super 8 on the eastern edge of Winnipeg. A relatively new hotel, with some great amenities for travellers and families.
For dinner Phil found a interesting Thai restaurant that turned out to be closed when we arrives. Quickly we pivoted to a Chinese food restaurant option instead, but the resulting meal was pretty lackluster, but the service was really nice.

Tomorrow: Winnipeg! After 3 long driving days we’re taking a rest-day to recharge for the next portion of the journey.
