As we keep moving westward through the timezones, getting up each morning is definitely getting easier. We made our earliest start of the trip today, by getting on the road shortly after 8am.

It rained over night, so we had pre-wrapped the Mokes in tarps to keep most of the rain off of them. So, first thing in the morning we needed to also unwrap the Mokes and fold up the wet tarps. Yuck.

A wet tarp we needed to fold. Better than sitting in a wet Moke all day.

Our first leg of the journey took us up to Whitecourt, north-west of Edmonton. We visited Whitecourt Baptist Church, and attended their morning service. Our Mokes drew a bit of a crowd afterward and we got a bunch of information about the local area and what to expect on our journey in the next couple of days.

The landscape along the drive was quite varied as it alternated between plains and forests. But the roads all the way out were in great shape and it made for a really smooth ride. With 110 km/h speed limits most of the way, the Mokes stepped up to the challenge and kept up with the flow of traffic.

Fortunately we had very little trouble with the vehicles today. The worst issue still plaguing is is that the Green Moke’s window wipers are not working, and both Moke’s have temperamental gas-tank electronic switches. For now we’re going to focus on using just one tank and the other tank will simply function as a permanent, built-in, jerry-can on each Moke.

Our 5th and final province we touch on this adventure!

We dotted the trip with a number of quick stops that turned into longer stops, and also took some time to grab some great photo and videos at various signposts and welcome signs. Notably we crossed the BC border, so we stopped for a sign photo-shoot. We also stopped to get photos with the Mile-0 sign outside Dawson Creek, as well as the ‘Alaska Highway’ sign inside of Dawson Creek.

We got a recommendation to a local favourite restaurant, Browns SocialHouse, but we went there only to find that they were closed today! We definitely have a trend going on here. Instead Tim and Jeff went across the street to the grocery store and picked up some things to make dinner tonight and our lunches for tomorrow. Jeff whipped up some awesome taco-salad for dinner and prepped up ham sandwiches for tomorrow. After our steak-dinner, this will hopefully get our budget back on-track!

Tomorrow we have another 450 km ahead of us, as we head north to Fort Nelson, BC.

What is the structure on the Green Moke’s rear bumper?
    Is that a starlink antenna?

Yup! A Starlink system was installed, so we have emergency comms when needed. Usually the hotels have been pretty good with their internet though, so we can upload all our photos and videos at the end of the day.
