After a short drive yesterday, we’re onto a longer leg today. It’s also not expected to be very eventful. We just need to put in the miles to get from A to B. In this case Drumheller to Regina. Unfortunately the rain did show, and it’s wet outside!
We start the day by checking the final few interesting things in Drumheller. Firstly, we stop at the World’s Biggest Dinosaur and grab a few (wet) photos.

Heading out of Drumheller we also stop at the local Hoodoos, which are a unique feature, with a unique name! We think pictures tell the story:

The land here is made up of a lot of sandstone. In some places there is non-sandstone soil that sits atop the sandstone and does not wear-away with rain, and protects the sandstone under it. Over time, a pillar is formed as the rain washes away the uncovered sandstone, but not the ones with fancy ‘caps’ over it.

After dashing back to the Mokes after the quickest of tours of the Hoodoos. We then headed on our way and hopefully out of the rain.
The drive here was long, flat, and straight. Pedal to the metal and move from A to B is the name of the game.
The other name of the game is ‘find the best value meal’. Chief Snack Eater (Jeff) had trained us on the ways of navigating the Value Menu of a number of restaurants. But we did think we found the King of Value Meals at Burger King. Today we found that we could get a basic burger, small fries, and a small drink for $5. This beats all the other value meals we had uncovered on this trip.

Back on the road we continue the straight and flat driving to Regina. Things are going well today. That is, until we are about 5 minutes from the hotel, and the Blue Moke ran out of gas. Tim was driving and was slightly over confident in how far we could push the Mokes on full tanks of gas. Turns out his math was about 5 km short.

Breaking out a siphon hose and jerry can, we transferred some fuel from the Green Moke to the Blue Moke and pushed on to the gas station outside the hotel we were staying at.

Tonight we dined at the confusingly named “Browns CraftHouse” and/or “The Ice House”.

Either way, the food here was pretty good. A solid four stars from this Mokin’ crew. (⭐⭐⭐⭐)

Tomorrow we continue on our return-to-home pilgrimage and head for Portage La Prairie.
